Happy holidays to all YellBox users (and even non-users). We've added a small option to make links open in a new browser window, so that visitors don't have to go away from your site if they click a link in the shoutbox. You can find this option under the "URLs" section of your Admin Control Panel.

International languages

In the spirit of supporting more international languages, we've changed our database over to the UTF character system. Hopefully this means our shoutbox will allow people to use more accented characters and so on.

Character encoding is well known for being problematic, so please get in touch if something is broken or doesn't look right any more.

Auto-scroll to bottom

If you're using your shoutbox in such a way where new messages are displayed on the bottom, you might want the content window to scroll down there automatically when the page loads. To achieve this kind of result just make a small change to your HTML code:

http://www.yellbox.com/yellbox.php?name=USERNAME

to

http://www.yellbox.com/yellbox.php?name=USERNAME#bottom

Server downtime

Our host, the usually dependable Atjeu had some brief technical splutters today. If your shoutbox is behaving unusually or displaying error messages please contact us for some support.

Forum login integration

Just a quick note to mention the login details for the forums are now integrated with our main website. This means you can access the forums using your YellBox username and password, without needing to sign up for a separate account.

New website layout

If you've visited the YellBox homepage in the past few days you'll have realized that it looks a lot different from what it used to. I've redesigned the website and customized the forums with a cleaner look, hope you like it. In the coming weeks I also want to update the Admin Control Panel and make it easier to use.

This blog page is also new and will be used for status updates, announcements of new features related to our shoutbox, that kind of stuff. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.
